Re State of Ohio v. Ronald Spikes

Case #: B 0707611-B

December 16, 2007

This defendant is a repeat offender in Price Hill.

The first victim in this case, Paul Pelnar is a resident of Price Hill. His home was violated and property stolen.

The second victim in this case, Price Hill has experienced a marked increase in felony crime in the past several years. From 2003 – 2006, Price Hill experienced a 32% increase in robberies and a 31 % increase in burglaries. Citywide 10% of all robberies and 14% of all burglaries occur in Price Hill. Often times, theft and robberies are associated with drug use. Jahfrey Harper has a prior adult conviction for possession of drugs. His criminal activity has now escalated to burglary.

The increases documented above have caused our population to decrease, abandoned and vacant buildings to increase, and the value of our largest asset – our homes to decrease. We are working diligently to reverse this pattern of crime and to restore our neighborhood and our business districts to a safe and inviting area. To accomplish this the Price Hill Court Watch program formed. We are seeking the stiffest possible sentences for those convicted of crimes in our neighborhood.

The defendant, Ronald Spikes stands accused of receiving stolen property. A review of the Hamilton County Clerk of Courts web site reveals a list of prior felonies and misdemeanor offenses. As recently as August 2007 the defendant was sentenced to 3 years of neighborhood directed community control for trafficking in marijuana around a Price Hill Elementary school (B 0704177-B). Five weeks later, he is back to his criminal activity. His continued criminality reflects his disrespect for the Courts and the Price Hill community.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

This defendant has prior felony convictions along with a considerable list of misdemeanors.

Price Hill Court Watch is asking for a sentence of 11 months for the current offense on case B 0707611-B.

Price Hill Court Watch is asking for the promised sentence of 12 months for any probation violation associated with case B 0704177-B.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Price Hill residents have had enough! We want to send a message to those committing crimes in our neighborhood -- crime will not be tolerated.

We are asking you to help us restore our historic community to the thriving working class neighborhood it once was. Please help us in our efforts.

Respectfully Submitted,

Price Hill Court Watch
