This defendant is a repeat offender in Price Hill.
The last several years have been marked by a drastic increase in felony crime in the community of Price Hill. Much of this crime is closely associated with drug activity and robbery. Between 2003 and 2006 Price Hill has experienced a 31% increase in burglaries while city wide the increase was 1%, a 32% increase in robberies while city wide the increase was 7%. 14% of the city’s burglaries and 10% of the city’s robberies occur in Price Hill.
This defendant is charged with 1 count of aggravated robbery and 1 count of robbery. He is no stranger to crime. As recently as August 2006 he was sentenced to 6 months in the Department of Corrections for cocaine possession. He has a history of felony convictions dating back to 1999. The offense in 2006 occurred in Price Hill. The new offense occurred in Westwood (a neighboring community) and the defendant was arrested in Price Hill. The severity of his crime is escalating and now includes the use of a weapon.
Price Hill residents have had enough! Price Hill is a victim. Due to this type of criminality, Price Hill residents have seen their population decrease, abandoned and vacant buildings increase, and the value of their largest asset – their homes decrease. The residents of Price Hill are working diligently to reverse this pattern of crime and to restore our neighborhood and our business district to a safe and inviting area. To accomplish this the Price Hill Court Watch program formed. We are seeking the stiffest possible sentences for those bringing crime to our neighborhood. The defendant, Othniel Fitzhugh satisfies this criterion.

Sentencing guidelines allow incarceration from 5 to 18 years. Because of the defendant’s history, past unsuccessful attempts at rehabilitation, and for the protection of the citizens of Price Hill and all of Cincinnati, Price Hill Court Watch is seeking a sentence of no less than 10 years. Please note, a minimum sentence IS NOT appropriate in this case
