The Price Hill Community has seen a marked escalation in crime in the past several years. According to the Cincinnati Police crime statistics, robberies in Price Hill from 2003 to 2006 are up 32%. Moreover, frequent articles that appear in the daily news media evidence this escalation. As one tool to counter this increase the Price Hill Court Watch Program formed. We are seeking the stiffest possible sentences for those who are convicted of drug crimes or violence in our neighborhood.
Because of the statistics mentioned above, many concerned Price Hill residents have come together to form the Price Hill Court Watch. In doing so we monitor cases of those who have committed serious crimes in our neighborhood. Mr. Greg Kalejs and Mr. Jeremy Korte, meets that criteria, each charged with robbery and aggravated robbery they brandished a handgun while robbing Mr. Chad Anderson and Mr. Kenneth Schulte. This type of crime also affects the business community as well as our neighbors.
Many residents opting to remain in Price Hill live in fear and are afraid to go about their normal daily activities. This crime and the escalation of crime have resulted in an overall decline in Price Hill, in our quality of life and in property values. In an effort to reverse this pattern of crime and to restore our neighborhood to a safe and inviting community, the Price Hill Court Watch program formed. For those convicted of crimes in Price Hill, we are seeking the stiffest possible sentences.
The Price Hill Court Watch wants to send a strong message to those who victimize the good people of Price Hill. These acts of violence and disregard for the law will not be tolerated here in our neighborhood. It is our hope that Mr. Greg Kalejs and Mr. Jeremy Korte indicted on first degree felonies will receive the stiffest penalty possible of 10 years. These gentlemen have a long criminal history. They have been given ample opportunity to reform but have chosen a life of crime. Please help us send a message that this type of criminal activity will not be tolerated. We are committed to taking back our historic neighborhood and ridding ourselves of rampant criminal activity.
