Re State of Ohio v. Delon and Robert London

Case #: B 0701448-A and B

April 1, 2007

As I am sure you are aware, the last several years have been marked by a drastic increase in felony crime in the community of Price Hill. Much of this crime is closely associated with drug activity. From 2003 through 2005, Price Hill has seen a 44% increase in drug arrests, a 16% increase in aggravated assaults, a 29% increase in robberies, and a 26% increase in weapons charges. For that same period, the City of Cincinnati saw a 20% increase in drug arrests, a 3% increase in aggravated assaults, a 5% increase in robberies, and a 27% reduction in weapons offenses. While we dont have the 2006 crime data for Price Hill the general consensus is the numbers will be higher. These numbers provided by the Cincinnati Police Department reflect our reality.

It is a reality resulting in many long-term residents leaving the area. Many of the residents who remain are afraid to go about their normal daily activities and feel that they are held hostage by crime. Price Hill is a victim. This escalation of crime has resulted in:
an overall decline in our quality of life
a decline in our sense of well being
a decline in our property values
a large number of vacant properties
an owner occupied housing percentage well below the national average
a community with fewer and fewer people vested in its future

In an effort to reverse this pattern of crime and to restore our historic neighborhood to a safe and inviting community, the Price Hill Court Watch program formed. For those convicted of violent and drug related crimes, we are seeking the stiffest possible sentences.

Indicted on 5 counts for possession and trafficking in drugs the defendants Delon and Robert London satisfies this criterion. Another alarming aspect of these charges is their proximity to Rees E Price Academy. It is our duty as parents, citizens, and public officials to protect our children around school environs. We are aware that

the defendants do not have prior convictions, we still asking that you exercise a zero tolerance and request the stiffest sentence possible. We cannot afford for our judicial system to keep giving breaks to drug dealers. Please help send a message to other would be drug dealers that dealing drugs in Price Hill will not be tolerated.

Respectfully Submitted,

Price Hill Court Watch
