Re State of Ohio v. Hamza Cherradi and Anis Cherradi
Case #s: B 0701366-A B 0701366-B
March 14, 2007
As I am sure you are aware, Price Hill has been plagued with an increase in felony crime. Much of that crime is associated with drug activity. From 2003 through 2005, Price Hill has seen a 44% increase in drug arrests. For that same period, the City of Cincinnati saw a 20% increase in drug arrest. Though currently unavailable, it is believed the numbers for 2006 will be even bleaker. These statistics provided by the Cincinnati Police Department sadly reflect our reality.
It is a reality resulting in many long-term residents leaving the area. Many of the residents who remain live in fear and are afraid to continue their normal daily activities. The escalation of crime has resulted in an overall decline in property values and quality of life. Price Hill is an historic neighborhood under siege by drug activity and violence. In an effort to reverse this pattern of crime and to restore our neighborhood to a safe and inviting community, Price Hill Court Watch formed. For those convicted of violent and drug related crimes, we are seeking the stiffest possible sentences.
Anis and Hamza Cherradi satisfy this criterion. This offense occurred at Dons Deli, 1500 Beech Avenue. The defendants purchased this property in June 2006. Since that date, the business has been the site of two serious crimes. An aggravated robbery occurring in July 2006 - one month after purchase. Now, serious drug charges have occurred.
Anis Cherradi the property owner is indicted on a charge of allowing drug abuse. The co-defendant, Hamza Cherradi indicted on 8 counts of possession of and trafficking in substantial quantities of a variety of drugs failed to appear for a 3/02/2007 arraignment.
These defendants brought crime to our community. They have no respect for the law or the community in which they live. Price Hill Court Watch is seeking a maximum sentence for both defendants.
Price Hill is a community struggling for existence. Please help us in our efforts to reclaim our community and once again make it safe for residents.
Respectfully Submitted,
Price Hill Court Watch
