Re State of Ohio v. Allen Walls
Case #: B 0610242
November 27, 2006
As I am sure you are aware, the last several year have been marked by a drastic increase in felony crime in the community of Price Hill. Much of this crime is closely associated with drug activity. From 2003 through 2005, Price Hill has seen a 44% increase in drug arrests, a 16% increase in aggravated assaults, a 29% increase in robberies, and a 26% increase in weapons charges. For that same period, the City of Cincinnati saw a 20% increase in drug arrests, a 3% increase in aggravated assaults, a 5% increase in robberies, and a 27% reduction in weapons offenses. These numbers provided by the Cincinnati Police Department reflect our reality.
It is a reality resulting in many long-term residents leaving the area. Many of the residents who remain live in fear and are afraid to go about their normal daily activities. They feel they are held hostage by crime. The escalation of crime documented above has resulted in an overall decline in property values and quality of life. In an effort to reverse this pattern of crime and to restore our neighborhood to a safe and inviting community, the Price Hill Court Watch program formed. For those convicted of violent and drug related crimes, we are seeking the stiffest possible sentences.
Indicted on two counts of trafficking in heroin, the defendant Allen Walls satisfies this criterion. Please note that both counts have a school specification attached as they occurred near Oyler Elementary School. The defendant?s criminal activity has shown total disregard for the safety and welfare of our children and our community. Parents need the security of knowing our schools are safe. It is our duty as parents, citizens, and public servants to protect our children.
A review of the Hamilton County Clerk of Courts web site reveals a history of past drug abuse and other crimes. It also reveals several arrests that were eventually ignored. Price Hill Court Watch is seeking a maximum sentence.
Please help us in our efforts to reclaim our community and once again make it safe for residents.
Respectfully Submitted,
