Re State of Ohio v. Shawn Dearing
Case #: B 0609817-A
November 16, 2006
Lawlessness has had a profoundly devastating effect on the Price Hill community. Detailed below are just a few:
. the quality of life in the community has declined. Fear runs high.
. depressed property values
. large numbers of long turn residents are fleeing
. large numbers of vacancies contributing to blight and decay
. because of the depressed housing market and excessive vacancies there is now an above average number of subsidized housing and rental property owned by absentee landlords
This impact qualifies Price Hill as a victim. In an effort to rid Price Hill of the criminal element destroying our historic community Price Hill Court Watch formed. For those convicted of crimes in our neighborhood, we are seeking the stiffest possible sentence.
Shawn Dearing?s broke into a building that was in the process of being renovated. Once inside the property the defendant removed the copper from throughout the building. This particular crime has a two-fold impact on Price Hill; it is an example of the escalating crime, it is also an example of crime squashing investment in the community. A review of the County Clerk of Court web site details no other felony activity in Hamilton County. What is does illustrate is an escalation in the seriousness of his offenses. Price Hill Court Watch believes incarceration is appropriate. If in your opinion community control is appropriate, we ask that a stay away from Price Hill, a curfew, or possibly both be included as an element of the defendant?s community control.
You can assist us in our efforts to restore the safety and welfare of Price Hill by imposing the maximum possible sentence.
Respectfully submitted,
Price Hill Court Watch
